Hang Tuff Book Description

Robert Allen Halloway, born in Evansville, Indiana, May 24, 1924, lived with family in Cambridge, Ohio until World War II. He enlisted with his older brother and saw service in the US Navy until 1946, when he was discharged as a MoMM2/c (diesel mechanic). Like most veterans, Robert married and became a father. Divorced and remarried, Robert returned to Cleveland and fathered four more children. He worked at many diverse jobs until 1963, when he hired on as a truck driver hauling steel. Following a steel strike, he moved to over-the-road freight hauling and finished his working years in 1989 at age 65 to devote his time to raising some of his grand children and working for his church. His love of story telling was drawn out by the simple inquiry of a friend who asked, "What did you do in the war, Bob?" With a wealth of material in his memory bank, Robert set about recalling stories in a series of emails, just to entertain and amuse, until others convinced him that stories should be in a book.
